Let’s face the facts – for most people training hard in the gym, at least one of the end goals in mind is to look better naked. Whether you currently have a significant other or are out in the dating world, when the clothes come off, you want that person to be as attracted to you as possible.
Sexual performance and libido are part of a healthy relationship and the last thing you want, is to fail in the bedroom. As such, you may be wondering what you can do to get your libido raring, your performance up, and have the most enjoyable bedroom sessions as possible.
It turns out, one of the best ways to get more mileage in the bedroom may come from using one simple supplement: Citrulline.
How Citrulline Works
You may have already by now done some reading on the physical performance benefits that Citrulline has to offer. Using this supplement can help to reduce levels of fatigue in the body, improve endurance both aerobically and anaerobically, and may also help increase total power output.
It’s really quite clear that as far as your gym workouts go, Citrulline will help.
In the bedroom however, Citrulline can give you a boost for other reasons. While there’s no doubt having better muscular endurance can help pave the way for more adventurous bedroom sessions, how Citrulline really helps out is by causing vasodilation to occur.
When you take L-Citrulline in through your diet, you’ll increase the levels of ornithine and arginine in the blood, which also improves nitric oxide metabolism. Nitric oxide in the body serves to dilate the blood vessels, which then improves blood flow to all areas of the body, including the sex organs.
This increased level of blood flow combined with the vasodilation effects in the body assists with improving erectile dysfunction.
Studies illustrate this effect in action. In one study published by the Urology journal, researchers gave a group of 24 men a dose of L-Citrulline (dosed at 1.5 grams per day) for one month followed by a placebo for another month.
Once the test period was over, researchers noted that that there was an improvement in erection hardness from a mild erectile dysfunction rating to normal erectile function in 12 of the 24 men taking the L-Citrulline, but when the placebo was taken, only 2 of the 24 men showed improvements.
This clearly illustrates that for anyone who is suffering from erectile dysfunction related issues, taking L-Citrulline could potentially help resolve your problem.
Another common cause of ED in males is high blood pressure levels and L-Citrulline can help out with this as well. After taking L-Citrulline, your blood vessels will begin to dilate, which brings total blood pressure levels down.
While you may not notice the effects in the bedroom right away, after a period of use and experiencing the corresponding decrease in blood pressure, you should see noticeable improvements in your sexual performance.
Now, you might be wondering, if L-Citrulline serves to boost levels of arginine in the blood which then improves nitric oxide, which not just take arginine and skip a step?
The problem with taking arginine on its own is the fact that this amino acid tends to be hampered by presystemic metabolism, whereas L-Citrulline escapes this and produces a much stronger overall response.
Additionally, while one study did show that that taking 5 grams of L-arginine per day does tend to help improve men suffering from ED in about 31% of the men studied, as higher levels of L-Arginine are given to achieve more powerful effects, side effects such as nausea and diarrhoea begin to set in.
This does not happen with L-Citrulline, thus it tends to be a better-tolerated route to go.
So next time you’re looking for a boost in the bedroom, you might just want to consider giving your pre-workout containing L-Citrulline some thought.
